Big in Japan builds cool stuff, think of us as the idea factory. Since 2005 our team of developers, strategists and marketers have developed intellectual property around social media using the Ruby on Rails development framework. Our software is delivered to clients as a service, managed by our developers in our state-of-the-art data center and NOC.
Our initial patent pending technological developments focused on XML to create unique social podcasting interactions (PodServe and FanPodCast). These technologies are used to power social connections between fans of popular television shows such as Damages, Dirt, Nip/Tuck, The Shield, and Rescue Me to name a few. We then developed patent pending interactions between VoIP, XML and Rails with the development of ServiceGuy. Most recently we developed patent pending technology to take advantage of the unique characteristics of the iPhone with our iPhoneVote application.
Team
Big in Japan’s team consists of Alexander Muse, Brad Merritt, Scott Ryan, Mike Vincent, Francis Sinson and a host of other contributors. Big in Japan is an Architel company and as a result we are able to leverage the people and assets associated with a much larger organization.
Clients
We have worked with both large and small companies from Lego, FX Network, MTV (Real World), Federal Reserve, United States Postal Service and TechData.
History
In 2005 we started two brands, WeblogsWork and Big in Japan. WeblogsWork was focused on consulting and training, while Big in Japan focused on building he tools that made social media work. By 2006 it was obvious that social media was about a lot more than blogs. It was also obvious that the ability to marry the technical and the consulting practice into a single effort made sense. Today we are known as: Big in Japan and we turn worthless ideas into cool businesses.
Facilties
Big in Japan sits inside of Architel’s offices in the Dallas INFOMART. Our facilities include a 24×7x365 network operations center, a state-of-the-art data center and offices for our developers. We are big fans of the coworking movement, so if you need a desk for a day to two, or a place to house your server just stop by our offices or give us a ring at 214.550.3600.
